I used expedia.com (link is below) to find some air service to locations near Ouray. (After driving all day from Phoenix last year, I wanted to give serious consideration to flying somewhere close.)

Here are some of the towns in Colorado to which you might fly:

Denver (Watch your luggage if you go thru Denver. The drive will be quite long and will take you thru Grand Junction, which also has air service--see below.)

Durango (The drive north from Durango thru Silverton to Ouray is a magnificent drive thru the true heart of the Rocky Mountains. You should plan to make the drive, even if it is out of your way.)

Grand Junction (This is north of Ouray and the easy drive south on 550 is thru high prairie farm land. There is one fantastic view of the mountains as you round a curve before you get to Ouray and it deserves to be photographed. You will know it when you see it.)

Montrose (This town is on highway 550 and is between Grand Junction and Ouray. I drove to Montrose in 2000 and stayed one night in a large room with a spa in the room. The drive back was when I discovered the mountain view mentioned above.)

Telluride (This is a ski resort and has the closest air service to Ouray, BUT the road to Ouray is not shown as a major improved road. I haven't been on the road and I don't know (yet) if auto rental is available. The air service may involve changing planes.)
